Gerrit Van Battem Paintings

Gerrit van Battem was a Dutch Golden Age landscape painter who was active in Rotterdam from the mid-17th century until his death. Born in 1636, van Battem was part of a period of great prosperity and cultural achievement in the Netherlands, known as the Dutch Golden Age. During this time, there was a high demand for art, driven by the middle class's growing wealth and interest in decorating their homes with paintings.
