The church features a grand façade with a dome and two distinctive columns, drawing inspiration from both ancient Roman structures and contemporary Italian baroque.

Fischer von Erlach's influence extended beyond his architectural projects. He was also an accomplished architectural historian. His book 'Entwurf einer historischen Architektur' (Outline of Historical Architecture) was one of the first major works to provide a comparative study of architecture from different parts of the world, including Asia and the Middle East, alongside European structures. This work reflected his comprehensive approach to architecture, recognizing the importance of understanding a wide range of styles and traditions.

Throughout his career, Fischer von Erlach worked on numerous palaces, churches, and secular buildings, leaving a lasting legacy on the architectural landscape of Austria.
