Rudolf Ritter von Alt was an Austrian landscape and architectural painter. Born on August 28, 1812, in Vienna, he was part of a well-known family of artists, being the son of the lithographer Jakob Alt. Rudolf von Alt showed an early interest in art and was trained by his father in the art of watercolor painting. He quickly became known for his technical skill and attention to detail, which was evident in his depictions of urban and rural scenes across the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Von Alt's work is characterized by its remarkable precision and clarity, capturing the architectural beauty and the atmosphere of the environments he portrayed.
