Boleslaw Cybis Paintings

Bolesław Cybis was a Polish painter, sculptor, and porcelain designer, best known for his work in fine porcelain figurines and dinnerware. He was born on December 23, 1895, in Narva, Russia (now in Estonia), and studied art in Warsaw, Poland, and later in Italy. His early work was primarily in the medium of painting and sculpture, but his focus shifted to porcelain after he emigrated to the United States in the years leading up to World War II.

In 1942, Cybis established the Cybis Porcelain Studio in Trenton, New Jersey, which became renowned for its beautifully crafted and intricately detailed porcelain sculptures. His work often drew inspiration from classical themes, nature, and childhood, and he was known for his ability to capture delicate expressions and movements in his porcelain figures. Cybis's artistic talents extended to the design of the studio's signature porcelain, which was characterized by its translucent quality and the vivid use of color.

The Cybis Porcelain Studio gained prominence and respect in the art world, with pieces from the studio collected by notable figures and institutions. Throughout his career, Cybis was dedicated to the art of porcelain, applying traditional European techniques and introducing innovative methods to his craft. His legacy is preserved in the Cybis Porcelain Studio, which continued to produce high-quality porcelain art after his death on January 23, 1957, and through the works held in private collections and museums around the world. Cybis's contribution to the field of porcelain art is evidenced by the lasting popularity and value of Cybis porcelain pieces.
