Emil Winnerwald Paintings

Winnerwald was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied from 1886 to 1894. During this time, he was heavily influenced by his instructors as well as the prevailing artistic trends in Europe, such as Impressionism and the Skagen Painters, a group of Scandinavian artists who gathered in the village of Skagen each summer to paint the unique light and landscapes.

After completing his education, Winnerwald traveled extensively, which further shaped his artistic style. He was particularly drawn to the landscapes and scenes of rural life, which became recurrent themes in his paintings.
