Jacob Laurensz. van der Vinne was a Dutch painter born in 1698 in Haarlem, Netherlands. He hailed from a family with a strong artistic tradition, as he was the son of Laurens Vincentsz. van der Vinne, a landscape painter, and the great-grandson of Vincent Laurensz. van der Vinne, who was a notable Haarlem painter and founder of the Haarlem Guild of St. Luke. Jacob Laurensz. van der Vinne was thus embedded in the artistic milieu of his time from an early age.

Jacob Laurensz. van der Vinne was primarily known for his landscape paintings, following in the footsteps of his father. His works often depicted the Dutch countryside, with a keen eye for naturalistic detail and a delicate handling of light and atmosphere, characteristics that were highly valued in the Dutch Golden Age of painting.
