Joaquim De Cabanyes Paintings

Joaquim de Cabanyes was a Spanish sculptor known for his abstract and minimalist works. Born in 1947 in Vila-seca, Tarragona, in the Catalonia region of Spain, de Cabanyes developed an interest in art at a young age. He studied at the Reus School of Art and later at the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. His early work was influenced by his Mediterranean surroundings and often incorporated elements of the landscape and cultural heritage of Catalonia.

During the 1970s and 1980s, de Cabanyes's work evolved as he began to explore the possibilities of modern materials such as iron, steel, and concrete. His sculptures from this period are characterized by their clean lines and geometric forms, reflecting the minimalist trend that was prevalent in contemporary art at the time. De Cabanyes's pieces often played with the concepts of space and perception, inviting viewers to interact with the art in a physical and contemplative manner.
